We Are Celebrating Disney’s Decision To Make ‘Princess Diaries 3’ By Revisiting These Iconic Scenes From The Movie!Fat Louie approved!
The Princess Diaries, starring Anne Hathaway and Dame Julie Andrews, was one of the most iconic movie franchises from our teenage years, wasn’t it? Come on! We were all obsessed with it. I remember looking back and hoping for Amelia Mignonette Thermopolis Renaldi’s life with the fabulous tower, the adorable cat, the amazing makeover and of course, the wardrobe of my dreams. Who wouldn’t want to swap lives with her, huh? This love for the franchise was also why were all extremely heartbroken to hear that no others sequels were being planned. Thankfully, our prayers have been answered albeit, a little late. Yes, you read that right. Almost 18 years after the last part i.e. The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, Disney is finally working on a third part of the franchise. I’m so excited. Aren’t you?
To celebrate this fabulous news, let’s look back at both the previous movies from the franchise. It’s time to have a look at our favourite iconic scenes from the movie. Are you ready? Let’s dive right in!
8 Iconic Scenes From The Princess Diaries Franchise We’re Never Getting Over
1. Mia, You’re A Princess!
“Me? A princess? Shut up!”
This is one of the most adorable scenes from the franchise wherein the queen decides to let Mia know the truth about her father. She also helps her realise the fact that she is a princess. But alas, Mia refuses to believe this and runs away. Ah, the memories!
2. The Iconic Makeover
The queen decides to give Mia a makeover and invites the celebrated stylist Paolo to do this for her. He turns Mia into Amelia Mignonette Thermopolis Renaldi with the magic of his talent. I mean, I’ve always wanted a breathtaking makeover like that after this scene. Love it!
3. Lana Got Coned!
When mean girl Lana (played by Mandy Moore) decides to couple Mia up with one of her closest friends, Jeremiah, Mia decides to finally stick up for herself. She plasters an ice cream on her bully’s cheerleader outfit. Then, when Lana calls Mia a freak, the latter has the most amazing comeback, “I might grow out of it but you will never stop being a jerk”.
“Lana Got Coned! Lana Got Coned!”
4. Knights Of The Order Of The Rose!
This is one of the most hilarious scenes in the first movie. On their grandma-granddaughter day out, Mia bangs her car into a San Francisco tram and Queen Clarisse has to fake-knight two police officers in front of the public to save her ass. Clarisse is such a queen!
5. Mia’s Wardrobe!
This is my favourite scene from Princess Diaries II: The Royal Engagement. Queen Clarisse shows Mia her newly done-up bedroom in the Genovian Palace. She gives us the best line ever too: “Nepotism belongs in the arts, not in plumbing.” Icon, truly. But what follows is perhaps the scene most girls who watched the film felt supremely envious about. The walk-in closet with everything that a woman could everything dream of and much more. Like Mia exclaims, “I have my own mall!” It even has showcases for her tiaras, and that remote which opens and closes drawers.
Can we have that please?
6. The Parade Set To Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Breakaway’
Mia stumbles upon little kids, including a cute and piccola Abigail Breslin, who turn out to be orphans. She teaches the girls that they have real power while reprimanding the bullies. She lets them all wear crowns and join the parade, yes, even the boys! This was the scene that proved, especially to Lord Nicholas Devereux, that Mia was meant to be where she is and that she genuinely cares about the people of Genovia.
7. Mia’s Bachelorette Party
After Mia decides to tie the knot, she invites all the princesses to her bachelorette slumber party. There’s mattress-surfing, Raven-Symoné playing Asana, and a badass stunt by Julie Andrews! But then, she is cheered on to sing a song for Mia. ‘Crowning Glory’ makes us tear up every time!
8. The Spark Between Mia And Nicholas
All through the second movie, Mia tries to stay away from Nicholas but they have an undeniable spark between them. This becomes clearer in the scene where Nicholas teaches Mia to shoot the flaming arrow perfectly. They are both wearing and their blue eyes sparkle when they look at each other. To quote Mia, it was ‘Wonderful’!

It’s safe to say that both the movies from The Princess Diaries franchise have a beautiful and undeniable space in our hearts. We have literally grown up with Mia and we really cannot be more excited about Disney’s decision to make a sequel. While Anne Hathaway has not been confirmed for it yet, we hope we get a royal announcement soon!
