5 Thoughts I Had About The ‘Human’ Trailer: This Looks Intense, And I Cannot Stop Fangirling Over Shefali Shah

I feel that being a literature student, I have learned more about the state of the medical and drug industry in the past two years than I have ever before. And I am aware that we have barely touched the tip of the iceberg. With this new surge of knowledge has also come a lot of questions and doubts revolving around it. However, this entire situation makes for interesting plots. With medical dramas being nothing new, Disney+ Hotstar has released the trailer of their new Hotstar Specials series Human. Human is a medical drama-thriller featuring Shefali Shah, Kirti Kulhari, Seema Biswas, Riddhi Kumar, Pranali Ghogare, Ram Kapoor, Vishal Jethwa, Atul Kumar, Indraneil Sengupta, Sandeep Kulkarni, Sushil Pandey, Aasif Khan, Shruti Bapna, Mohan Agashe, and Aditya Srivastava. The series is directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah and Mozez Singh and is all set to be released in Disney+ Hotstar on January 14.

The Human trailer has already garnered 1,49,667 views since its upload on YouTube. Having contributed to quite a few of the views themselves, I have opinions on the trailer.

Here are 5 thoughts I had while watching the Human trailer:

1. I have been waiting for an opportunity to fangirl over Shefali Shah for a while now. Since I watched her alongside Manav Kaul (who is another man I want to fangirl over) in Ajeeb Daastaans on Netflix, I have not been able to get over how talented she is. And if the Human trailer is an indicator, then this series will be no different. She is such a versatile actress, her craft makes any role seem effortless!

2. The cast in general has my attention! Kirti Kulhari who has already been seen in movies such as Pink, Mission Mangal and Uri: The Surgical Strike has already proved her mettle as an actor. Ram Kapoor is known for his roles on the small and big screens. And also Aditya Srivastava is mainly known for playing Abhijeet in the popular show CID. While most of the cast is not known for playing main roles, they have proved themselves as exemplary actors time and time again. I cannot wait to see how it all comes together in Human.

3. When the trailer began, I saw two beautiful women and assumed that Human would have a similar feel to Grey’s Anatomy. However, the Human trailer completely subverted my expectations by taking a turn and showing a very dark side of human trials, something that in our current global pandemic situation and vaccine hustle, might resound with many in the medical fraternity as well as those outside it.

4. I love the overall theme of the trailer. What I mean is that the Human trailer does a great job showing the plot of the series without disclosing too much. This is such a rare thing considering how either trailers leave you feeling confused or as if you already watched the whole movie/series.

5. The commentary that Human seems to have been made is something I am completely up for. Talking about corruption in the medical and drug industry by people in power while the poor suffer just to earn a few thousand is priceless and pretty accurate. I cannot wait to see how it pans out in the series itself, and how it highlights the plight of the common man who is preyed upon in such situations.

With the outstanding cast and the intense plotline, this one is up for a win if executed correctly. Human is all set to be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar from January 14, 2022.
