These days, it genuinely feels like Bollywood lacks originality, where most of the songs that we come across are just remakes and remixes. It feels like the industry as a whole is stuck in a place that lacks creativity and is choosing to turn annoyingly redundant. We’re at a point where we can only hope that the industry stops further ruining iconic songs and childhood favourites with edits, remixes, and remakes. This has turned into a trend, with singers like Neha Kakkar, Tony Kakkar, and Tanishq Bagchi leading this change and even getting trolled for it. While the whole business is unfortunate, the fact of the matter is that these songs don’t hit the mark like the originals, end up disappointing everyone, and yet, the trend continues.
There have been a slew of these unwanted remakes recently that have gotten criticised for their existence, with audience wondering, “Iski kya zarurat this?”

6 Bollywood Songs That Shouldn’t Have Been Made!
1. O Sajna
This remake of Falguni Pathak’s iconic song ‘Maine Payal Hai Chhankai’, by Neha Kakkar, was a big mistake. It not only created a lot of chaos among the singers but, it was also widely disliked by the masses. A wasted effort, huh?
2. Kanta Laga
Now get this, this is a remix of a remix. The OG Kanta Laga is a song from a Prakash Mehra film called Samadhi, which got remixed into an iconic track in the 90s. Shefali Jariwala became the ‘Kanta Laga’ girl. Was there a need for another version of this song? Not really. But who will tell this to our current music lords? The recent release by Neha Kakkar, Honey Singh and Tanishq Bagchi is a true disappointment in comparison.
3. Masakali 2.0
The original Masakali which was released back in 2009, won all our hearts and made our souls dance. This is why it was so hard to listen to the second version, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria, which was a massive disaster.
4. Manike
Manike Mage Hithe by Chamath Sangeeth, Satheeshan, and Yohani was one of the most beautiful songs from the year 2020. It was taken over, heaving edited and ruined by Jubin Nautiyal and Surya Ragunaathan in an attempt to create a track for the movie Thank God. I don’t even know why we needed this one. The original is not even that old. At least, they had the good sense to retain the original singer.
5. Chamma Chamma
As a kid, I used to love dancing to ‘Chamma Chamma’ from China Gate, it was one of the greatest dance songs of my time and picturised on the amazing Urmila Matondkar. The recent remix by DJ Vishal, Neha Kakkar and Elli Avrram was just really hard to watch because it could barely match up to the original’s finesse. Urmila’s expressions were a class apart!
6. Aap Jaisa Koi
Nazia Hassan’s iconic song ‘Aap Jaisa Koi’ has touched so many hearts over the years. Did you know, the song was so popular that she won a Filmfare Award for Best Playback Singer (female) for this, and became the first Pakistani to win it? Alas, the iconic song has just been recreated for Ayushmann Khurrana’s upcoming film An Action Hero and we’re just sitting here, wondering why.

This remix trend needs to retire and make way for creative originals instead because it’s beyond awful and we’re totally over it, aren’t we?
