‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ Makers Officially Begin To Campaign Film For 76th BAFTAs. Alia Bhatt In Race For Leading Actress!
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi shook the nation with its hard-hitting plot, rusty setting, dialogues and of course, Alia Bhatt’s performance! Alia’s potential as an actress was truly recognised with her role in this film. The amazing transformation she underwent to get into the skin of Gangubai. In fact, not just in India, the film was highly acclaimed in other south-east Asian countries like Malaysia and Thailand as well. And it looks like the makers of the film want to scale higher as they are now beginning their campaign to get the film nominated for the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA Awards).

Sanjay Leela Bhansali has officially begun the campaign to get his film Gangubai Kathiwadi recognised at the 76th British Academy Film Awards. The movie is being pitched for consideration under the following categories – Best Film, Adapted Screenplay, Director, Leading Actress and Film Not in the English Language. The crime drama film is based on the book titled Mafia Queens Of Mumbai by Hussain Zaidi.

This Alia Bhatt starter was added to the calendar of the voting members officially in October. Sanjay Leela Bhansali will also be heading to London to attend the many events related to the campaign and support his film. Apart from this, he will also be sharing insights into his 30-year-long career for a masterclass on November 28. The filmmaker has also expressed his excitement about the film being taken ahead for BAFTAs.

The leading lady of the film Alia Bhatt also said that it is a great honour for her to take Gangubai Kathiwadi to the world stage. Apart from Alia, the cast of the film includes Ajay Devgn, Shantanu Maheshwari and Vijay Raaz among others. The film is available for streaming on Netflix.
