Alia Bhatt’s Signature ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ Avatar Turned Inspiration For This Malaysian Fashion Show

And while it takes films, and characters, many many years to win that spot, Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi has already hopped on to that position. From dialogues to its fashion, the film won hearts both at the box office and for the critics. Ever since its release, there is always a buzz around the film.

And now in the latest news, we spotted the film inspiring even the fashion runway. Not in India, but Alia’s Gangubai turned inspiration for a recent Malaysian fashion Week. At this year’s Malaysia’s Northern Haute Couture Fashion Show 2022, models paraded on the runway, wearing red roses, and black sunglasses, coupled with red lips, and a black bindi. The pictures surfaced on the internet when a model from the crew uploaded her pictures from the showcase, alongside a famous dialogue from the film.

Curated by designer–Nik Aswat, the range of white semi-ethnic attires packaged the entire collection. Aswat used popular Bollywood dialogues and songs as the background music for the presentation. And walking to the tunes of this medley were models who recreated the iconic Gangubai Kathiawadi avatar for the runway.

A part of the collection were lace gowns in white, butterfly-motif embroideries, sarees, embellished veils, and statement sleeves, dipped in the Gangu-approved safed. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial turned out to be one of the highest-grossing films of the year and opened the doors to abundant love for Alia Bhatt.
