‘Farzi’ Trailer: Shahid Kapoor And Vijay Sethupathi Are A Fire-And-Ice Combination In This Crime Thriller!

The pandemic saw a rise in the number of celebrities making their digital debuts as theatres were shut. And one of the actors whose digital debut was highly anticipated is Shahi Kapoor. Shahid was last seen in the sports drama film Jersey, and now, he is all set to venture into the world of web series with his upcoming project Farzi. The series is a Raj and DK directorial, the popular duo who is known for helming series like The Family Man. Farzi stars Vijay Sethupathi (who will also make his digital debut), Raashi Khanna and Kay Kay Menon in prominent roles. Its trailer was dropped today and here’s all you need to know about it.

The two-minute Farzi trailer starts with Shahid saying the age-old saying that money does not buy happiness. But when he said that this was said by someone who did not have enough money, I immediately knew I was going to love his morally-grey shady character! Coming from a middle-class background, the trailer shows that Shahid wants to be so rich he does not have to respect it. So, he starts the illegal business of printing counterfeit notes with his friend. He puts his artistic skills to use to make fake notes that no one could tell them apart.
But a criminal this clever also has an equally shaana law protector, and in this series, it is Vijay Sethupathi. He is the kind of guy who is level-headed, calm and always thinks things through. And when he will come face-to-face with an aggressive Shahid, you know there will be explosions like no other!
The plot looks simple but it is Shahid Kapoor’s ‘I don’t give an F attitude’ that makes it all so much more interesting. Plus, to counter his aggression, we have the calm and cool Vijay Sethupathi, and I think they will make for a fire-and-ice combination! While the plot, setting and the other characters are serious, Vijay keeps it light with his need to have someone translate tough Hindi words for him. What swagger Kay Kay Menon exudes, man! His outfits add a pop of colour to the otherwise overall grey setting as well. We also saw glimpses of Amol Palekar and Kubbra Sait in the trailer, taking our anticipation about a notch higher about Farzi.
Uff, Shahid so looks rugged and handsome that it makes you want to bend your morals for him. The dialogues are also not cringy or feku-type. In fact, they are sharp and smart with a comic-y undertone. The music makes or mars the thrill of a crime drama! And the background score looks like it is on point in this one. I love the balance that is maintained in every aspect of the series. After all, Raj and DK are known for this kind of direction and characterisation.
