Dressed in custom Stella McCartney, her headpiece was made by Miodrag Guberinic. But this is not what she was in headlines for. Here’s what happened!

After the Met Gala 2026 red carpet was closed, a claim went around stating that Katy Perry allegedly set herself on fire. The video quickly went viral and sparked intense reacting from fans. For the unversed, many stars on the Met Gala sometimes do a brief performance during their walk, which is what many thought Perry was also doing. Many then started worrying for her well-being and asked online if she was okay.

One user wrote, “Why would you light her on fire?” while another commented, “, “KATY PERRY IS WATCHING IT BURN AT #TheMet.” But it is important to note that the viral picture is not real but completely edited. The alleged picture was viewed around 3.9 million times. It was soon revealed that the video of Katy read ot from Met Gala and reportedly from her music video called ‘WATCH IT BURN’s’ behind the scenes. X (Formerly Twitter)‘s AI Bot called Grok also verified the same.

Apart from this, her mask also went viral which was reportedly designed to be a symbolic reflection that invites the observer to admit that their perception of others can mirror themselves, and that the mask hides the truth. Perry also pulled a magician tarot card and then opened her mask at the red carpet.
