‘The Male Feminist’ Ep 2: Anupriya Goenka’s Advice To Her 16 YO Self Is Bound To Resonate With Everyone

The teenage years of every person are not easy. It’s not just the hormonal imbalance that teenagers go through, it is also the competition among them, the pressures they have to deal with, the conversation gap with their parents, the whole looming question of their careers and the ever-poking relatives make the whole experience all the more difficult. It is during this time when teenagers need someone to talk to and someone who can advise them. It feels quite stifling to not have anyone to talk to, and this is coming from a personal experience! In an exclusive conversation with Siddhaarth Aalambayan in Hauterrfly’s brand new show, The Male Feminist, Anupriya Goenka has shared the advice she would want to give her 16-year-old self which is quite practical!

Sharing the advice that Anupriya said she give her 16-yar-old self, she said, “Being self-aware but less conscious. There is a difference between the two.” She elaborated by saying that being enough self-aware and mature enough to understand where is a certain thought or action coming from is very important. Further ahead, Anupriya Goenka said that the initiation point of every thought and action matters to understand if you are doing it just to revolt or if are you doing it because that is who you are.

Believe it or not, there is a lot of pressure from society on teenagers as well. And it is easy to get sucked down in all expectations and forget who you are. The 35-year-old actress also went on to share that teenagers should not get caught up in thinking about what society thinks about them or how they view them. Pretty much like, “Kucch toh log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna!”

We completely agree with Anupriya Goenka here. In fact, the advice she gave is not only applicable to teenagers but also to us adults. Thinking about what society thinks of us is a waste of time and nothing productive is achieved from it. We need to be confident in our skin and believe in ourselves, while the rest will follow.
