Moreover, both actors spoke about the importance of financial planning. So ladies, read on.
Sargun Mehta, the producer of Badall Pe Paon Hai spoke to Hauterrfly about her new show and also discussed the evolution of Indian TV serials. Sargun Mehta also talked about her professional rapport with her husband, actor Ravi Dubey. She further gave some insights into the selection process of finding the lead for her show and how Amandeep Sidhu became the perfect fit.
1. Today’s youth has somewhat lost interest in TV serials because of the content, how do you think Badall Pe Paon Hai will break that and attract more young audience?
I feel Badall Pe Paon Hai narrates a very relatable story. It is about the aspirations of a young girl who dreams big and is not afraid of dreaming even bigger. She sets her own rules and she believes that it is ok to think beyond what life has given her. I believe this is something that the youth of today also believe in. They want to manifest what’s beyond their reach and therefore dream big. I think this is something that will bring them to this show. Also, the show will teach them about the stock market, so they should come and watch the show.
2. How did Amandeep Sidhu make the perfect fit for this role?
I was instantly connected with Amandeep when we saw her first audition. My director and I became 100% confident when we did the mock shoot with her. However, I hadn’t met Amandeep till then. But when I met her for the first time and narrated a few scenes to her, I saw a spark in her eyes. She gave me instances from her life where she also behaved like Baani. That moment I was convinced that she was Baani. Amandeep was so close to Baani and I feel she was just waiting for this character to fall in her lap. I can confidently say that she has a Baani of her own.
3. How involved were you as a producer in the storyline and shooting?
I am a very hands-on producer when it comes to storylines and shooting. I usually start with an idea for a story and then the writers do their jobs. As a producer, I ensure that I am a part of the workshops and mock shoots and then even for some initial days of shoot. Whenever time permits, I ensure to visit sets as much as I can. For Badall Pe Paon Hai, I have seen a lot of women around me investing in stocks and I was the clueless one so I wanted to learn about it. From there, the concept of Badall Pe Paon Hai came into being.
4. How’s your working rapport with Ravi Dubey, do you guys have any work ethic you swear by?
We share a great personal and professional rapport. Personally, there is no downside to working with your partner. There is only one upside to it, we are clear about what decisions we will take. We have departmentalised and compartmentalised what we both have to take care of so that we don’t overlap each other’s instructions. We both have figured out what we are good at.
5. Financial planning is a very important skill that everyone should have, what are some tips that you would like to share based on personal views?
Financial planning is very important, particularly investing in stocks as a means of securing one’s future. I regret not starting earlier, especially during the pandemic. Today I encourage everyone to save and invest diligently. By prioritizing financial stability, I believe everyone can enjoy the freedom to indulge in luxury and travel without worrying about their bank accounts during breaks between projects.

1. How was the experience working with Sargun Mehta and Ravi Dubey for Badal Pe Paon Hai?
Working with Sargun ma’am and Ravi sir is mind-blowing. Their hospitality is amazing. They being actors know what are the needs of an actor and they have made sure that all our needs are being fulfilled. They engage so much in the direction of episodes, providing a lot of input on the script. They always sit with us to talk about our characters during rehearsals and workshops. It is very pleasing to work with them.
2. Your character focuses on making her family financially strong, what principles do you swear by when it comes to financial planning?
I follow one principle in my life and that is irrespective of how much I am earning whether it’s a meagre or a whooping amount, I always save some money in case a rainy day comes. As an actor, you have work today and you may not have work tomorrow, so it becomes important to save some money for financial stability. I don’t invest money anywhere, I am a bit frugal when it comes to investing. But now I will learn from Baani and will try to invest in the stock market.
3. How was the experience shooting in Chandigarh, any fun BTS on the set you would like to share?
Everything is good here. All the actors are cordial and there is scrumptious food everywhere in the town. The only problem is the weather where we have to shoot outdoor scenes every day. Since my character Baani is like a nomad, it becomes difficult to shoot in this scorching heat. But it is a good learning experience.
4. From mythological characters in Naagin to some very relatable characters like Badall Pe Paon Hai, how will you describe your journey in TV?
From Naagin to Baani, it has been a drastic change. The two characters are exactly opposite to each other. Naagin was extraordinary, my expressions and acting were different compared to my present character Baani. Badall Pe Paon Hai is like a normal daily soap when compared to a supernatural fiction show like Naagin and I enjoyed doing Naagin also. But I must say that out of all the characters that I have portrayed on-screen, Baani is my favourite. The character is very unique and different from what you see in Saas Bahu serials.
5. Do you have any plans to explore OTT or Films?
As an artist, it’s important to work on different platforms as it gives you more exposure and makes you better as a professional. I’m open to OTT and films but for now, I am focusing on my current show Badall Pe Paon Hai. I’m very excited for the audience to see me portray Baani on-screen. It will be a treat for them as they will see a completely new avatar of Amandeep from the earlier roles that I have played. I hope my performance will resonate with them and that they shower me and the show with lots of love.
