In an exclusive interview with Hauterrfly, Richa Chadha spoke about her experience of working with a celebrated actor like Manisha Koirala in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi. The actress had a lot to say about her and also revealed that Manisha Koirala was there for her on bad days too. Richa Chadha said “She is so cute and lovely to work with. She is so vulnerable and generous as a co-actor. I have had some bad days on the set, and she was there for more than just as a colleague, as a woman and as an actor herself. She is always there appreciating you and holding your hands when you need it just by sensing it on the bad days. She always reached out and there is no ego or sense of like I’ve done so much work. I have immense respect for actors who are so secure in their craft that they don’t need to belittle anyone. They give themselves so generously. It was an honour to work with her.”

Richa Chadha also expressed her wish to produce a film starring Manisha Koirala. She added “I would love to produce something in which we cast her because she is just amazing. There is something about people who have been in the limelight, then disappear for a while and then come back. There’s a grace that you cannot learn or pretend to have. It’s the experience and life that shows on her, on her face, on her recovery from the disease, her ups and downs. Not to forget, existing in the Hindi film industry in the 90s as a woman would have been hard, and she aced it.”

Richa Chadha spoke about the pathbreaking films done by Manisha Koirala. She said “She has done some beautiful works, not just in Dil Se and Bombay which everyone talks about. But other films like Agni Sakshi and Lajja were ahead of their times even if they were commercial. I have the deepest respect and a lot of love for her.”
