Exclusive! Eisha Chopra: “Stories Written By Women Reflect Real Life And That Is The Real Change We Want”

The cinematic space right now is full of rich content. But if you notice closely, women are spearheading a lot of this novel content. From being in the director’s chair to writing scripts and also being the one executing the director’s vision, we are seeing more women as storytellers. Honestly, it does feel so fulfilling to watch projects heralded by women because they are obviously much more relatable and the characters are far more enriching. We spoke to actor Eisha Chopra whose new show Salt City is out on SonyLiv and asked her to share her thoughts on how she feels like being in an era where stories written by women are given more weightage and what she said was quite insightful.

Eisha Chopra On Stories Written By Women

The first word that came to Eisha’s mind when asked about her thoughts on stories written by women was – ‘awesome’! She then elaborated by saying, “It’s our moment, right? I am really happy to be a woman who is working in this industry, post the #MeToo Movement. I think that #MeToo changed everything. Shedding light on how the movement affected the kind of projects that are being made, the What The Folks actress said, “I remember when all this happened, most men were just stumped. They had no idea that this was reality. So, I think that if it is happening in real life, stories mimic that, right? The fact that these stories are happening, it’s very exciting for me because it means that that’s what is actually happening in life.”

She also said this is the ‘real change’ that we want. Talking about the impact of such stories, Eisha said, “What’s the point of having great stories on screen and nothing is changing in our household. So, I think that art mimics life. And I think in that sense that the fact that all this is happening means that things actually happening in real life for women.”
