Redditors Say Deepika Padukone’s Acting Skills Are Like Fine Wine! Where’s The Lie?

Deepika Padukone mesmerised the audience with her aankhon ki ajab si aadaaein in 2007’s Om Shanti Om, and she continues to do so. The 37-year-old actress has constantly given back-to-back hit movies with very few ones that did not hit the mark with the audience. But what has impressed the audience is that she has improved with every film she has done. A conversation around this has taken place on Reddit where people are talking that Deepika Padukone has put in efforts to nail every character she has essayed right from her debut film! And we absolutely agree with them.

A Redditor who goes by the username @Shimigami1998 wrote on the social media platform that they liked how Deepika tried to improve her acting chops in each film. They also went on to give a full-fledged explanation of why they think that Deepika has actually worked hard and it’s not just good luck for her.

The Reddit user explained that Deepika was not as gifted as Taboo, Vidya Balan, Kokona Sen Sharma or Kangana Ranaut when she entered the film industry. The user then said that she really improved her skills by delivering two ‘nuanced’ performances in Piku and Cocktail. And it is quite true. Her movies from 2008 to 2011 were typically romantic and rom-com-ish in the genre. She massively improved with Cocktail in 2012.

Deepika’s performances in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani as Naina, in Chennai Express as Meenamma, and in Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela as Leela, were the turning points in her career. She played such versatile characters and each very different from the other and also what she had played so far. She only went uphill hereon.

Other Reddit users also shared their thoughts on Deepika’s performance and said that she really improved with time. One of them said that her acting chops are like fine wine. They got better with time. Whereas another said that she was the only saving grace in Gehraiyaan. One of the also called her underrated as compared to Alia Bhatt and Anushka Sharma.
