‘Tis the season to make merry and treat yourself to all kinds of sweets. I mean, it’s Christmas guys! We’re just a few days away from Christmas and I’m sure all of you have plans to celebrate this holiday in your own special ways. But many of us love curling up in our beds and simply watching happy holiday and Christmas films. TBH, for me, the best thing about Christmas is getting the chance to just wear my warm comfy pajamas and get into bed and have a movie marathon of mushy rom-com. And I’m sure you’ve come across several holiday movie lists but here’s a list customised for you from us. Check out this list of team Hauterrfly’s personal favourite holiday films to help you celebrate Christmas.

1. The Holiday – Netflix

This 2006 romantic comedy film starring Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jack Black, Jude Law and Eli Wallach follows the story of two women who exchange homes during the holiday season in order to escape heartbreak. Directed by Nancy Meyers, this film gives us hope that love will happen.

2. Holidate – Netflix

Holiday season is also a time when singles feel lonely and try to find someone to help them get through this time. Much in line with the same theme, this film follows Emma Roberts’s Sloan and Luke Bracey’s Jackson as the two strangers meet and end up making a pact to be each other’s plus one for the holiday’s throughout the year but eventually end up falling in love.

3. A Christmas Prince – Netflix

Starring Rose Mclver and Ben Lamb in the lead roles, this 2017 Christmas rom-com film also has 2 sequels titled A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding and A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby. The series follows the story of a journalist who falls in love with a Prince.

4. Christmas In Love – Netflix

In this 2018 film, Brooke D’Orsay’s Ellie (a bakery owner) forms an unlikely alliance with an aspiring businessman, Daniel Lissing’s Nick. But soon things being to change as both of their hearts get involved.

5. A Boy Called Christmas – Netflix

Based on a 2015 book of the same name, this 2021 film follows the story of a boy, Nikolas also known as Christmas as he goes on an interesting snow-filled adventure. Henry Lawfull plays the role of the kid in the film.

6. The Polar Express – Prime Video

Directed by Rober Zemeckis, this 2004 animated fantasy adventure film follows the story of a boy who embarks on an adventure to see Santa Claus after getting on a train for the North Pole along with several other kids.

7. Single All The Way – Netflix

This 2021 film directed by Michael Mayer follows the story of a gay man who asks his BFF to act as his boyfriend which soon leads to chaos. It stars Michael, Urie, Philemon Chamber, Barry Bostwick and Luke Macfarlane among others.

8. Dash & Lily – Netflix

This romantic comedy series based on a book series of the same name revolves around Dash and Lily’s whirlwind romance.

9. Harry Potter – Prime Video

What better way to celebrate Christmas than to watch this film series based on the novel series of the same name written by J.K. Rowling starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint in the lead roles.
