Chinmayi Sripada Reveals How Samantha Ruth Prabhu Supported Her During #MeToo

The #MeToo movement was the time when we heard a series of allegations against several powerful men, many of whom we had never even suspected. But sadly this movement was an absolute nightmare for all the people who came out with allegations of sexual abuse against their abusers. Many powerful people received support from those around them despite multiple allegations which eventually led to victim blaming and trolling. And Indian playback singer Chinmayi Sripada also had to suffer the same fate despite being of the few women who were at the forefront of this movement in India. However, at that time, actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu took a stand for the singer and lent her support. In a recent interview, Chinmayi has spoken up about the same.

We’ve all known Indian singer Chinmayi Sripada to be an empowered woman who doesn’t shy away from taking a stand to support women or call out abuse and crimes against women. She’s also quick to call out the misogyny and sexism and during the 2018 #MeToo movement, the singer had levelled allegations of sexual misconduct against lyricist Vairamuthu as well as actor Radha Ravi. During that time, actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu had taken to Twitter to support Chinmayi. Speaking about the same in an interview with Film Companion quoted by Hindustan Times, the singer shared that Samantha Ruth Prabhu stood by her during the #MeToo movement while adding that she was one of the few “voices of stature” who believed her when she made the allegations. Further, Chinmayi revealed that the actress also gave her work and even went out on a limb to get the singer to dub for her even when she could’ve done it herself.
