Goodbye Cartoon Network: 5 Shows That We Miss From The Channel

Goodbye Cartoon Network: 5 Shows That We Miss From The Channel

Today while on my way to work, I was sobbing on the auto ride because I heard that Cartoon Network, an integral part of my childhood, will be bidding us goodbye and merging with  Warner Bros. Animation. I might have been a tad bit emotional thanks to my periods but let’s just focus on our childhoods officially ending, shall we? Ted Turner founded the cable television channel on October 1, 1992, and it is well-known for its animated television shows, predominantly children’s programming spanning from action to humour. As part of the media and entertainment company’s restructuring of its businesses, Cartoon Network will undergo an overhaul and merge with Warner Bros. Animation. Following still more significant layoffs at Warner Bros. Television Group, the company announced a “strategic realignment” with Warner Bros. Discovery.

While Cartoon Network hasn’t been the same since ages, it is still the channel I spent most of my childhood watching and I was filled with bitter-sweet nostalgia when I heard that CN was ending after 3 decades. I started thinking back to all the shows I used to watch and how much I will miss them now that the channel is officially coming to an end. So let’s take a trip down memory lane and talk about all the cartoons we all grew up watching on Cartoon Network.

1. Tom And Jerry

Who didn’t love our favourite cat and mouse duo. In hindsight, there were some very questionable things that we were shown as children in terms of the violence and random deaths of the characters but who cares? I am traumatised but I at least had fun with it. Also, the older I grow, the more I understand Tom.

2. Popeye The Sailor Man

I’m Popeye the sailor man

I’m Popeye the sailor man”

The way I vibed to this theme song and how?! No joke, Popeye is the only reason I ate my spinach as a child; I still grew up to be an adult with thalassemia but we shall ignore that. Controversial opinion: Olive was annoying but my god did I love how cool Popeye was.

3. Ed, Edd n Eddy

I attribute my chaotic energy to Ed, Edd n Eddy and I will not be taking any arguments for the same. The show was just about a show about 3 boys existing in a neighborhood together and all their shenanigans. There was no point of the show and I loved every minute of it. No wonder I am as random as I am.

4. The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy

The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy is the reason for my cynical and dark humour as an adult. Mandy was such a mood and the older I grow, the more I understand her cynicism. Amongst all the happy go lucky kids shows we have today, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy is still a gem!

5. Courage the Cowardly Dog

Courage the Cowardly Dog is exactly why I cannot watch horror movies as an adult. I don’t know who decided that a show like Courage the Cowardly Dog was appropriate for children to watch but I cannot emphasize enough how it scarred me. However, I still miss it and watch clips of it every now and then!

Cartoon Network was a huge part of a lot of our childhoods. While all of these shows stopped airing years ago, the channel still holds a lot of importance in my life. Goodbye Cartoon Network, thanks for being so good to me.
