The 75th Cannes Film Festival has begun. This year’s grand film festival red carpet will be graced by many Indian celebrities, and we are proud. The good news doesn’t stop there. Another feather in India’s cap at Cannes 2022 is the official announcement that it will be the ‘Country of Honour’. Deepika Padukone, who is in Cannes as an official jury member, has expressed her thoughts on our country’s accomplishment. The Gehraiyaan actor also discussed her plans to critique films at Cannes 2022.
The opening ceremony of Cannes took place on May 17, 2022. Deepika elegantly walked down the red carpet with other jury members. The Piku actor donned a retro-styled sequin saree and she looked gorgeous. On the red carpet, the actor expressed her thoughts on being invited to Cannes as a jury member.
Deepika said that it is a big moment for India and not many Indians have not got the opportunity to showcase themselves on a global stage. We should feel honoured and take this with gratitude and humility, the actor stated in a video posted by ANI.
Deepika Padukone also discussed how she intends to justify her role as a jury member at Cannes. In another video that is doing rounds on social media, the actor discusses how filmmaking is a creative process that she and the other judges have decided to enjoy. Deepika went on to say that while critiquing films is a huge responsibility, they would not burden themselves. The actor elaborates saying that everyone in films is a creative person, and she believes that none of them has the ability to criticise or judge them.
Deepika Padukone’s list of upcoming films is quite interesting. She will be seen in Fighter alongside Hrithik Roshan. The actor will also be pairing up with Sharukh Khan for Pathaan. Intern and Project K are also in Deepika’s bag.
