Shaunak Sen’s All That Breathes Bags BAFTA Nomination, RRR Couldn’t Make The List

If you will ask me about my favourite season, I will say it’s the award season because I’m a cinema lover and nothing excites me more than award shows, to be honest. Well, speaking of awards shows, the final nominations list for BAFTA 2023 is finally here. And let me tell you, the documentary All That Breathes has bagged one nomination. But unfortunately, RRR couldn’t make the list.
On December 18, the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) announced the final nominations for this year’s awards. Actors Hayley Atwell and Toheeb Jimoh revealed the list on Thursday evening, there is good news for India. Shaunak Sen’s All That Breathes has received a nomination in the Best Documentary category. The Hindi-language documentary film stars Salik Rehman, Mohammed Saud, and Nadeem Shehzad in the lead roles. Directed by Shaunak Sen, the story of All That Breathes follows two brothers who run a hospital for birds and rescue injured black kites.
The documentary film got premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival where it won Grand Jury Prize in World Cinema Documentary Competition. It was also selected for screening at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival in a special screening section and won the Golden Eye award for the best documentary.

On the other hand, SS Rajamouli’s blockbuster film RRR starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles, which was on the longlist for Best Film Not In The English Language, could not make the list.
For the unversed, All That Breathes and RRR secured a position in the reminder list of Oscars 2023. The final nomination for the 2023 Academy Awards will be announced on January 24.
