After the SAG Awards and the Oscars, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards revealed their complete winners’ list. And trust me, the list doesn’t come as a surprise. The in-person ceremony was held on Sunday, at the Royal Albert Hall in London and was hosted by the very hilarious, talented actor Rebel Willson. The awards ceremony’s red carpet was graced with the presence of many celebrities including the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch with his wife, Lady Gaga, Jessie Buckley, Ariana DeBose, Rachel Zegler, Emma Watson, Kenneth Branagh, Troy Kotsur, and many many more. Now that we’ve covered almost everything about the event, time to focus on the winners! Unsurprisingly, Power of the Dog, Dune, CODA, and Licorice Pizza went on to become the front runners on the winners’ list.
In fact, Netflix’s Power of the Dog went home with the Best Film award while its director Jane Campion who wasn’t present at the ceremony bagged the Best Director award. The only other movie that had more than two wins at BAFTA was Dune. The movie took home five awards – for Production Design, Sound, Original Score, Cinematography, and Special Visual Effects. Even Disney’s Encanto won as the Best Animated Film. On a whole, Dune had 11 nominations, while Power of the Dog had 8, and Belfast came third with 6 nominations.
