In India, with the increasing number of rape cases, women’s safety still remains a significant concern. Many women face challenges when moving around alone, especially at night. There’s fear among women; however, efforts are being made to enhance women’s safety through initiatives like increased police presence and stricter laws. But can a woman walk around at 2 a.m. alone? Well, to find out, in the latest episode of Hauterrfly’s 2 AM Stories, journalist Janvi Manchanda went to Nagpur to check out how safe the city is for girls at night.

Journalist Finds Out If Nagpur Is Safe At 2 A.M
According to NCRP data, Nagpur is considered to be safer than Mumbai and Pune. However, another survey reports that 178 places in Nagpur are unsafe for women. Hence, to find out what safety measures were being taken for those 178 places, the host began her journey by travelling from the metro. While exploring the metro, the host spotted installations at the metro station. The installations work as an emergency call point where you can press the button and talk to the police for further assistance. It’s a great way to ensure women’s safety. Furthermore, the host interacted with the female locals at night and asked them about locations that were safe for women at night. To which a woman replied, “Ladkiya achhi ho toh sab jagah achhi hoti hai.”

Another guy revealed a few locations that are totally unsafe for women. Furthermore, she explored the famous Futala Lake and showed the visuals of how the location looks at night, which is extremely creepy. It was completely dark, and there weren’t any lights at all. However, things took a turn when she was at Lokmat Square. Several men started noticing her, following her around, and also keeping an eye on her. While she was about to leave the place, she was informed that two transwomen were following her because they thought the journalist was recording news.
