1. Rani Kashyap From Haseen Dilruba
Played by Taapsee Pannu, Kanika Dhillon wrote Rani Kashyap as a housewife who not only led the narrative but portrayed a flawed woman who manages to stand her ground and be herself. But what’s best is that she doesn’t run away from her flaws, mistakes or even her sexual desires. Plus we all know that Taapsee fell in love with the script and the character immediately as she was quoted saying in an interview.
2. Bobby Grewal From Judgemental Hai Kya!
We women have been called emotional and crazy far too many times and it’s about time we own up being mental. Bobby Grewal played by Kangana Ranaut is crazy, unapologetic and she has no bandwidth for nonsense. The cherry on the cake is that she gives us chills with her psychotic moments and has us all sitting on the edge. This twisted female character is kaafi out of the box and we’ve got Kanika Dhillon to thank for it.
3. Nanki Dutta From Guilty
We women are always on an emotional rollercoaster, hai na? But we often shy away from putting it all out there but Kanika Dhillon did not shy away from creating an unconventional and emotional character of Nanki Dutta (played by Kiara Advani) in Guilty. Kanika’s Nanki is bold, unapologetic and in her own way encourages women to talk about the lesser talked about things and take a stand for themselves while struggling with her own demons.
4. Rumi Bagga From Manmarziyaan
We always have this pressure to be sure of things in life but it’s not uncommon for women to be indecisive and far from perfect. One such character was Rumi Bagga, played by Taapsee Pannu and written by Kanika Dhillon. She was unsure, confused and went out looking for trouble and if that isn’t all of us, then what is?
