5 Thoughts We Had About The ‘Feels Like Ishq’ Trailer: Romance Anthology With Such Cute Pairings? So Ready For Them Feels!

I love romantic comedies. No matter how horrendous my mood is, put one on, and you’ll see the monster me turn into a tame puppy dog, who wants to cuddle and snuggle. They’re an antidote to everything—hectic work days, bad dates, breakups, period cramps, boredom, the works. So if you’re going to give me an entire anthology of mini rom-com stories with cute couples to boot, I’mma send you a basket of heart-shaped chocolates with a thank you note! And this one goes out to Netflix, because it just dropped the trailer for Feels Like Ishq, a six-part romantic drama anthology series which feels like it has the potential to warm the cockles of your heart. The six unique love stories are helmed by six directors—Anand Tiwari, Ruchir Arun, Tahira Kashyap, Sachin Kundalkar, Jaydeep Sarkar and Danish Aslam. And wait till you see the cast, which is some alag level of cute—Rohit Saraf, Radhika Madan, Tanya Maniktala, Amol Parashar, Neeraj Madhav, Simran Jehani, Kajol Chugh, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Skand Thakur, Zayn Marie Khan, Saba Azad, Mihir Ahuja!

The anthology’s writer’s room includes Monisha Thyagarajan, Gazal Dhaliwal, Saurabh Swamy, Aarsh Vora, Sulagna Chatterjee, Danish Aslam, Arati Raval-Pandey, Sachin Kundalkar, Jaydeep Sarkar, Shubhra Chatterji, and Ira Dubey.

Six couples, six stories, and each of them look like they tackle a different facet of love, from first love to strangers in the most unlikely of meet-cutes. There’s even love in the time of quarantine (which I am surprised isn’t still a legit book yet!) and one of the stories is an LGBTQ romance, which God knows we need more of! The stories are titled The Interview, Quaranteen Crush, Save The Da(y)te, Ishq Mastana, Star Host and She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not, and the trailer makes me excited for each one of them.

Here’s are 5 thoughts I had about the Feels Like Ishq trailer:

1. The couples cast for this film look so good together! The pairs—Radhika Madan and Amol Parashar; Kajol Chugh and Mihir Ahuja; Rohit Saraf and Simran Jehani; Saba Azad and Sanjeeta Bhattacharya; Neeraj Madhav and Zayn Khan; and Tanya Maniktala and Skand Thakur—and what little we’ve glimpsed of them in the trailer, look adorbs!

2. I’m already digging the song that’s playing in the background of the trailer! It’s one of those soft romantic numbers that take you back to your first crush/pehla pyaar days. And suits the vibe of this series so well.

3. Oh but think of all the interesting meet-cutes that we could get! They’re usually my favourite thing about love stories. And the current trend with rom-coms too is that no matter how cliché the middle or the end is, the beginning has to be unique and quirky spin on boy meets girl, or girl meets girl, or any other combination! Feels Like Ishq has some pretty fun premises, like a teen who develops a crush during quarantine, two strangers who meet during an interview, and finding love smack in the middle of chaos. That’s got to make for some interesting beginnings!

4. The LGBTQ love story is the one I am really looking forward to! For most of our lives, we’ve been conditioned to love the standard straight couple dynamics. And sure, that’s been good. But it isn’t a reflection of our reality anymore, not the only reflection. I think we need more LGBTQ love stories represented on screen, not just because we don’t have enough of them, but also because the world needs to see that love is love and it is just as normal and beautiful and butterflies and rainbows as cis love, while battling problems that are unique to it. It’s an interesting dichotomy that filmmakers and storytellers are increasingly exploring on screen and I am interested to see what happens in Feels Like Ishq!

5. This is the perfect weather for warm, mushy love stories!

The trailer opens with Rohit Saraf’s voice welcoming us to the locales of Mahabaleshwar. There are some beautiful people on screen doing things that’ll generate warm, fuzzy feels. The anthology drops on July 23, 2021, which means it would be proper monsoon, the perfect weather to cuddle with your SO or make a girls’ night in with your BFFs to watch it! You feelin’ my vibe?
