Zendaya Predicted ‘Euphoria’ In 2010, Say Fans As Old Clip From Her Disney Channel Show Shake It Up Goes Viral!

Do we all agree that Zendaya is awesome? Yes? Good, then we can proceed without ado. Because she is. And if you saw Euphoria Episode 5 on Monday, there’s no way in hell you’d disagree with me. Zendaya as Rue really had us sitting with our bodies stiff, our mouths open and our hands covering up those mouths in astonishment as Rue unravelled after her surprise intervention. Twitter is, of course, divided, with some saying the show is pushing limits in showing substance abuse and violence which is triggering for many and others commending the show, directed by Sam Levinson, for a realistic portrayal of what living with an addiction and living around someone with an addiction is like. In fact, Episode 5 had fans, and some Euphoria cast members like Angus Cloud, clamouring for another Emmy nomination for Zendaya.

But amidst all that serious discourse and ovation, the memes do find a way to stand out. And one such meme format involves taking clips from the Disney Channel sitcom Shake It Up, which catapulted both Zendaya and Bella Thorne to stardom, and remarking how Zendaya predicted Euphoria way back in 2010.

I know, crazy, right? But I promise, none of these guys is on opiates. And if you were to watch those clips, you’d agree too!

For example, check this one out where Zendaya is literally what a younger Rue would look like.

But I think my favourite associated between Shake It Up, a freaking Disney Channel show, and Euphoria, which has so many d*cks and b**bs on display as if it were a genitalia museum video, is this clip shared by @jk_zswaggerr, which indicates our goddess Zendaya predicted Euphoria nearly over a decade ago.

I MEAN! She is so freaking accurate, right down to Rue’s mom throwing her out of the house and Rue hiding in a garbage dumpster! Consider my mind officially blown!

Euphoria Season 2 has not been holding back with its darkness, something that Zendaya warned us about before Season 2 began airing. In Episode 5, which comes with a clear disclaimer, Rue hitting rock bottom is a difficult watch. Zendaya put out a post after the episode aired, where she revealed that the show’s direction was always about finding redemption for someone like Rue. She said “It’s my hope for people watching that they still see her as a person worthy of their love. And worthy of their time, and that she has a redemptive quality still, and that we still see the good in her even if she can’t see it in herself. I think that if people can go with her through that, and get to the end, and still have hope for her future, and watch her make the changes and steps to heal and humanize her through her sobriety journey and her addiction, then maybe they can extend that to people in real life.”

In the wake of Episode 5, ‘Stand Still Like The Hummingbird’, the anti-drug campaign D.A.R.E. called out the show and the channel, HBO, for its misguided and erroneous depiction of high schoolers using drugs, leading to “addiction, anonymous sex, violence, and other destructive behaviors as common and widespread in today’s world.”

Zendaya has replied to this statement in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, saying, “Our show is in no way a moral tale to teach people how to live their life or what they should be doing. If anything, the feeling behind Euphoria … is to hopefully help people feel a little bit less alone in their experience.”
