5 Reasons Why We Think Kajol’s Anjali From K3G Is An Underrated Character

Since I watch very few movies, I’m hardly ever passionate about them. But even though I might not exactly be passionate about the movie, I get really passionate about certain characters that have left an ever-lasting impression on me. Today, I’m going to be telling you about one such character that I’m extremely passionate about but hasn’t gotten her due credit for the last 20 years. Yep, I’m going to be talking about Anjali Sharma from the movie Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham or K3G. I mean, someone should talk about how underrated her character is even to this day. Don’t you agree? Well, I have 5 reasons that will prove that Kajol’s Anjali from K3G is extremely underrated.

Let me be honest, I love Kajol. She is easily my most favourite actress of all time and no, I’m not exaggerating. I have honestly enjoyed watching her on the big screen and bringing so many versatile characters to life that I’m in awe of her craft. And out of the many many characters she’s brought to life, Anjali from K3G is my favourite. Why? Because she was such a wholesome character that had so much depth to her. But for some reason, she never got the credit that she deserves.

And so, I’m here to tell you that Anjali from K3G was an underrated character, and here’s why:

1. Expressive

Fight me on this, but Anjali was so much more expressive than most of the characters in the film! From the way she modulated her voice to her facial expressions, she was always so expressive. In fact, let’s not just talk about the tangible aspects of her character, she was expressive about her feelings and emotions even from what she spoke and the way she behaved. She was just so wholesome and expressive.

2. Character growth

From the first time when Anjali is introduced to the viewers till the last scene, there is a very obvious character development that can be seen. Starting off with this jhalli woman who is loud and unaware about what to speak when, to this jhalli woman who not only understands the situation but also is emotionally intelligent – she definitely came a long way.

3. Quirky

What I love the most about Kajol’s Anjali from K3G is the fact that even though she was a grown-up woman who was running and taking care of an entire family, she never did let go of her quirks. She was just so comfortable with herself that it never bothered her what people thought about her (and honestly, that is aspiring to me and many young girls).

4. Patriotic

Say what you want, but her patriotism did not end with moving to London. Anjali maintained her relationship with the country she loved so much but never once disrespected the patriotism of another country. And I think in today’s time, we all could learn from that.

5. Thoughtful

Do I even have to specify this? I mean, whether it is her friend, her father, or her sister, she always looked out for them in her own way. In fact, she even ensured that her in-laws always were taken care of – remember the moment in K3G when she touches Amitabh Bachchan’s feet at the mall.

All of this and much more added so much to the character of Anjali and yet, she turned out to be one of the most underrated characters in K3G. How? Don’t ask me. But I know for sure, that those who’ve watched the movie a zillion times the way I have, will know how brilliant Kajol’s character was.
