Konkona Sen Says It’s A Privilege To Age. Agreed! But Why Are Shaming Women For Growing Old!?!

‘Age is just a number’ – this is something we’ve all heard growing up. And for the most part, this is true. Growing up and ageing is just a part and parcel of life. And there are some people that crib and cry their way because they are ageing or growing old. Whereas others embrace their age and age gracefully. In fact, my personal favourite, Meryl Streep, is one such actress that has gracefully aged with time and how. Even in India, we have had many Bollywood actresses that have aged with grace. One such being Konkona Sen. Though she isn’t too old, to begin with, the 41-year-old actress is ageing gracefully and with dignity.

Recently, the 41-year-old Bollywood actress, Konkona Sen replied to an Instagram user’s comment on one of her posts. The comment was directed towards the fact that the actress is ageing and the film industry hasn’t done justice to her as an artist.

The Instagram user commented on one of Konkona Sen’s posts, stating that “It’s very sad to see you being aged. The industry didn’t [do] justice with your kind of artists. You were my crush in school life.” And the Bollywood actress gave a very wise and fitting reply to the fan’s comment.

Konkona Sen replied to the Instagram comment of the fan by saying, “Don’t be sad. It is a privilege to age as opposed to die tragically young.” And if what she said doesn’t make sense to you, then I don’t know what will.

As far as I’m concerned, I completely agree with Konkona Sen on her idea of ageing. Ageing with grace and dignity just means that one is able to accept the fact that they are growing older and accept all the changes that come with it. Ageing gracefully means that one is open to accommodate and adapt to all the new changes that we are going to experience. When it comes to ageing, the attitude that we carry into our later years influences the kind of life we’re going to live in our last days. Having the right attitude and accepting that ageing is one of life’s processes that everyone has to go through – is the best way to age.
