5 RD Burman And Asha Bhosle Songs That Will Always Be On Our Playlist

5 RD Burman And Asha Bhosle Songs That Will Always Be On Our Playlist

Old Bollywood music is my jam. I can listen to songs from the 50s, 60s, 70, 80s, and 90s, all day long. And you can bet your a** that I’ll know the lyrics to most of them and sing them at the top of my voice. Now, that I’ve already established my love for old, classic Bollywood songs, you know that my favourite artists also come from the same era. After Kishore Kumar, if there is a man whose musical sensibilities have left me rendered then it has to be RD Burman. Boy, did that man know how to create musical compositions that are to date considered classics. Today, on his 83rd birth anniversary, I’m here to give him a tribute in my own way – and that way is by putting out a list of songs that he has collaborated with his wife Asha Bhosle.

RD Burman aka Pancham Da has composed a tonne of music that has left quite the impression on the coming generations of music directors in India. His songs are not just popular all over the country but even abroad. The musician’s major work has been with his wife and singer Asha Bhosle and another legendary name in the music industry – Kishore Kumar.

Asha Bhosle and RD Burman worked on several music projects together before eventually falling in love with each other. And God did their collaboration create musical masterpieces that have remained unparalleled even after years of their release.

Before I bore you with my constant gushing about the legendary RD Burman, let me just put myself together and give you 5 songs that he collaborated with Asha Bhosle and that have my and many others’ whole heart.

Check out these 5 songs:

1. Dum Maaro Dum from Hare Rama Hare Krishna

The song was a rage in the early 1970s and if you ask me it still is. Its infectious catchy choruses and driving rhythms created by RD Burman set the perfect mood for such a trippy song. And Asha Bhosle’s voice just adds to the charm

2. Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko from Yaadon Ki Baaraat

This iconic song has a different fan base of its own. The sensual voice of Asha Bhole and lightning tunes by Pancham Da make for an unforgettable musical masterpiece that remains etched in my heart. (PS Mohammed Rafi’s voice is all that is needed to take it to the next level).

3. Piya Tu Ab To Aaja from Caravan

Does this song even need an introduction? I think not! More than the lyrics and Asha Bhosle’s voice its the peppy musical composition that has me falling in love with it. The old, classic song is the right amount of seductive and sensual at the same time.

4. Ek Main Aur Ek Tu from Khel Khel Mein

This is one of the most fun-spirited songs of RD Burman. The soulful voices of Asha Bhosle and Kishore Kumar elevate the catchy hook and infectious chorus of the song. And watching Neetu Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor’s romance in the song just makes this the perfect fun-romantic song.

5. Aaja Aaja Main Hoon Pyaar Tera from Teesri Manzil

Two of the artists that do justice to Pancham Da’s music compositions then it has to be – Asha Bhosle and Mohammed Rafi. And Aaja Aaja Main Hoon Pyaar Tera is the prime example of it.

Songs by Pancham Da are so iconic that most Bollywood nights are incomplete without people dancing to the tunes of RD Burman.
