Rakhi Sawant Slut-Shames Sherlyn Chopra For Allegations Against Sajid Khan. It’s Shameful To See A Woman Disregarding Another Woman’s Trauma!
In India, it is already very difficult for women to come out and talk about the crimes that are committed against them, let alone file a complaint against the accused. And the reason for that is not just that women are always the ones to be blamed, but it is also because there are many other women who do not take them seriously or show support or at times even mock or shame these women for coming out. Just take the recent instance where Rakhi Sawant openly mocked Sherlyn Chopra and accused her of falsely accusing Sajid Khan.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, Rakhi Sawant is seen imitating Sherlyn Chopra in a caricatured manner and mocking her for coming out and accusing filmmaker Sajid Khan of sexual harassment. She then goes on to say that it is recently that she has started wearing sarees but before that she used to wear clothes that were inviting for men.

The video starts with a reporter asking Rakhi Sawant about the allegations made by Sherlyn Chopra against Sajid Khan, to which the actress starts crying dramatically and imitates as well as mocks Sherlyn saying that no policeman is ready to register her case. She then goes back to her normal self and questions why anyone should take her case when the filmmaker is not guilty as no one has given a statement against him nor has he been prosecuted by the court.
Rakhi Sawant then attacks Sherlyn Chopra and says that after applying tonnes of makeup and wearing a saree she comes in front of the media and falsely accuses Sajid Khan. She goes on to say that first she accused Raj Kundra and now she is back accusing the filmmaker. She says that Sherlyn Chopra should be ashamed of herself. To make matters worse, she said that after six months Sherlyn will come again and blame someone else for rape.

In the video, Rakhi Sawant says, “Tum toh saree pehen na abhi seekhi ho na, tum dekho toh sahi tumne kya kya pehenkar plate mein khud lekar gayi ho ke khau mujhe”. She tells Sherlyn Chopra to first reflect on the kind of person she is before accusing others.
Honestly, this video fills me with disgust. And it is not just because Rakhi Sawant is protecting Sajid Khan, a #MeToo accused, but also because she is making fun of Sherlyn Chopra, a woman who is seeking justice in her own way. I do not know who is guilty and who is not, that is the work of the police and the court to decide, but mocking a woman like this in public is just shameful. This behaviour is so problematic. In fact, this is a classic example of victim shaming and victim blaming. This is one of the reasons why many women do not speak out in public about the crimes they’ve faced.
