‘Pavitra Rishta 2.0 Season 2 Review: Ugh With The Multiple Time Leaps! But Ankita Lokhande, Shaheer Sheikh’s Chemistry Makes It Palatable
If I haven’t already said this enough times, I’ll say it again. Indian TV soaps are my guilty pleasure and these days I’ve been hooked onto Anupamaa and Ghum Hain Kisi Ke Pyaar Mein. Cliche, I know. But hey, the heart wants what it wants. If I’m being honest, all these serials have nothing on Pavitra Rishta. That show was iconic. And it’s not like we can ever get over the OG Archana and Manav played by Ankita Lokhande and late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. After all, it did make them a household name. Last year, the show was reprised by the makers. Archana and Manav made a comeback with Pavitra Rishta 2.0 which was aired on the OTT platform Zee5 and ALTBalaji. In the latest version, Shaheer Sheikh played the role of Manav alongside Ankita Lokhande as Archana. And now, season 2 of Pavitra Rishta 2.0 is here and it’s just as interesting. Created by Ekta Kapoor and directed by Nandita Mehra, Pavitra Rishta 2.0 season 2 stars Vivek Dhaiya, Pooja Bhamrrah, Asheema Vardaan and Usha Nadkarni in supporting roles. The show has released on the OTT platform Zee5 on January 28.
The Story of ‘Pavitra Rishta 2.0’ Season 2
This show is the sequel of season 1 of the show. At the end of the first season, we saw that Archana and Manav’s marriage which was based on a lie falls apart and the duo splits up after the death of the latter’s younger brother. Season 2 of Pavitra Rishta 2.0 revolves around how Archana and Manav realise that their relationship was never bound by vows, responsibilities or marriage. The duo realises that their relationship is bound by love, trust and faith and destiny has a different plan for them. The story picks up where it left off in the last season where their marriage ended and they went their different ways but destiny brings them back together but only to separate them again. And then they cross paths again and their love for each other still remains the same. But the real question is, will these two unite again? More so considering that Manav has married his younger brother’s girlfriend Akanksha, played by Asheema Vardaan, who is pregnant with his brother’s child.

While the story continues to remain interesting, it does include several time leaps over the course of eight episodes. Almost every leap begins with the couple trying to unite only to end up getting separated once again, which, IMHO, is a total buzzkill. But let me tell you this, the story isn’t as predictable as you’d expect.
The Cast And Characters

Ankita Lokhande’s portrayal of Archana is just as we had expected. She never fails to impress us with her amazing acting skills. She slips into her character’s role effortlessly. Shaheer Sheikh, on the other hand, has managed to win all our hearts with his portrayal of Manav. But we must point out that Vivek Dhaiya’s character was a great addition to this mix. While it’s a very mainstream love triangle, I couldn’t help but love his fun and charming role as Archana’s boss Rajveer. And the camaraderie between Rajveer and Archana is really interesting and it will have a part of you rooting for them. But at the same time, it’s difficult to miss out on the amazing chemistry between Ankita Lokhande and Shaheer Sheikh’s characters. The supporting cast also did a great job at portraying their characters with ease.

Final Verdict
So, I’m giving this show 3 out of 5 stars. Even though the episodes are just between 20 to 25 minutes each, the story goes a tad bit too slow for your sanity. You’ll have the urge to fast forward. At the same time, the multiple time leaps and the repeated separation of Archana and Manav can be a major turn off. It really just gets repetitive and annoying. Three time leaps in eight episodes is a little too much to handle. Moreover, every other character falling in love with Archana while she continues to reject them to wait for Manav who clearly is unavailable can get a little monotonous. Unlike the television serial and the first season, the families have no role to play in the separation of the lead couple which is a total relief but the ending will definitely melt your heart. Having said that, unless you’re a hardcore Pavitra Rishta fan, you might want to skip watching the show. But if you are then, it can be a great watch. I will still warn you that this season looks rather rushed and fails to make an emotional connection with the viewers.
