Neliima Azeem Talks About Being A Single Mother And Raising Shahid Kapoor And Ishaan Khatter Alone
Being a single mother in India is not easy and being in the limelight while raising kids on your own is even tougher. Today, we’re all empowered and we have celebs who are single mothers and setting goals for us all but that was not the case a few years ago. Being a celebrity and a single mother at the same time was no cakewalk. In a recent interview, actor Neliima Azeem, Shahid Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter’s mother opened up about her struggles raising two kids as a single mother.

Speaking about her struggles as a single mom, Neliima Azeem shared that she raised her kids alone and it wasn’t an easy thing to do back in those days. She shared that she’s happy to see both her sons going ‘exceptionally good work in films’ her hard work and struggles. “I don’t have to bother about anything and can easily relax while my sons look after me so well. Both Zain and Misha are great fun to be with and it is a delight watching them grow,” the actress told Etimes in an interview.

Talking about her daughter-in-law, Shahid Kapoor’s wife Mira Rajput, Neliima Azeem said that she can never get tired talking about Mira while adding that the star wife was the one to bring their family together. Sharing that Mira keeps everyone happy, the veteran actress said that she is glad that her son Shahid Kapoor found a ‘great companion’ in her. She went on to praise her daughter-in-law and said that Mira Rajput is ‘very warm’ and ‘loveable’. Discussing Shahid Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter’s work, Neliima Azeem said that Shahid had ‘carved a niche for himself’ by doing the kind of work that he has while adding that Ishaan has also tried working in different kinds of films and had an early start in his career. “I am glad that I am a mother of sons who have worked their way to success in Bollywood,” the veteran actress told the news portal.

When asked if she will be seen alongside her sons in any film, the actress said that she hasn’t worked in a while but if she comes across a good script and a good role she would love to work with Shahid or Ishaan. “I would love to work with Shahid or Ishaan but then it should be a good role and I should not be doing something just for the heck of it. I have had some great opportunities and acted in good films during my career. So, if something exciting comes along why not?” said Neliima Azeem.

FYI, Neliima Azeem married Pankaj Kapoor in 1979 and had their first son, Shahid Kapoor, in 1981. The couple got divorced in 1984 after which the actress married Rajesh Khatter in 1990 and welcomed her second son Ishaan Khatter in 1995.
