Kamya Punjabi Slams A Troll Who Said She Failed To ‘Save’ Her First Marriage. We’re Tired Of This Misogyny

In recent times, the divorce rate in India is increasing. Men and women are ending their unhealthy marriages, which is totally fine. But some people think that these ‘failed’ marriages are only women’s fault and Kamya Punjabi is here to teach them a lesson. Recently, the actor slammed an online troll who tried to attack her on social media because of her divorce from first husband, Bunty Negi.

On Wednesday, Kamya Punjabi took to her social media account and posted a video of herself in which she spoke about women’s empowerment. The troll, sounding like an absolute misogynist, commented on the post, “Ek apni shaadi to bacha ni payi talaq ho gya. Fir dusri shadi…had hai.” And a man with a fragile ego strikes again for no apparent reason.

Kamya Panjabi immediately responded with, “So? Mujhe khush rehne ka ya jeene ka koi haq nahi hai? Talaq ho gaya toh aurat ko marr jaana chahiye? Talaq se zindagi khatam ho jaati hai aurat ki? Aap jaisi soch rakhne waalo ke khilaaf aaj harr ladki ko apni awaaz uthani padegi our utha bhi rahi hai… Mujhe kamzor naa samajna main ladki hoon lad sakti hoon (Do I have no right to stay happy? If divorced, should a woman die? Divorce is not the end of one’s life. Every girl needs to raise her voice against people with a mindset like yours. And, they are raising their voices. Do not think of me as weak. I am a woman and I can fight).” Louder for the people in the back, please!

The Shakti actress was married to businessman Bunty Negi for 10 years till they parted ways in 2013. She has a daughter, Aara, from her first marriage. Last year, she married Shalabh Dang and received a lot of hateful comments. In an interview, Kamya Panjabi mentioned that she got trolled on social media because of her divorce. She further added that divorce is a very painful word but society uses it as abuse. If someone is divorced or a single parent or wants to start a new life, everyone starts trolling them instead of supporting them.

Divorce is a difficult choice. But we know that a lot of Indian women are taking stands for themselves and happily walking out of a relationship that is not working and that is absolutely fine. So, instead of trolling them for a ‘failed’ marriage, people should try to understand that there is a major issue in their mentality and maybe try to fix it.
