Johnny Depp Thanks The Jurors For Giving His Life Back, While Amber Heard Expresses “Disappointment” In The Verdict

It’s verdict time! The ongoing Johnny Depp and Amber Heard defamation case finally comes to an end as the jury gives out their verdict on Wednesday. The jury has decided that the Aquaman actress is liable for defaming her ex-husband and actor Johnny Depp in her op-ed that she published in the Washington Post in 2018. They also have held the Pirates of the Caribbean actor liable for a statement that his lawyer made calling Amber Heard’s allegations of domestic violence a hoax. After the somewhat mixed verdict was out, the two actors took to their respective social media to give out statements with regard to the verdict.

Minutes after the jury sided with Johnny Depp in the defamation case, Amber Heard took to her social media to express her “disappointment” in the outcome. While on the other hand, Depp thanks the jury for giving his life back.

Amber Heard took to her Instagram to post a statement regarding the defamation case against Johnny Depp. In her statement, the actress wrote, “The disappointment I feel today is beyond words. I’m heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence, and sway of my ex-husband.”

The 36-year-old actress further said that this verdict sets back the clock to a time when women would be publicly shamed and humiliated for speaking up. Amber Heard states, “It sets back the idea that violence against women should be taken seriously.”

Speaking about Johnny Depp and his lawyers, Amber Heard said that they have successfully succeeded in getting the jury of the defamation case to overlook the main issue – Freedom of speech. She further states that they’ve managed to ensure that the jury ignores the evidence that was conclusive during their case in the UK.
