Disney Heir Charlee Corra Comes Out As Transgender, Says They Could Have Done Much More To Oppose Florida’s ‘Don’t Say Gay’ Bill
Coming out as an LGBTQIA+ person is never an easy thing to do for most people who identify with this community. Society’s prejudice and stigma make it all the more difficult for them to come out. But the people who belong to this community are fighting the system and for their rights one day at a time and it is in such times that Disney’s heir Charlee Corra serves as an inspiration. Charlee Corra has come out as transgender and is staunchly opposing Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” law.
Charlee Corra Comes Out As Transgender
The announcement that Charlee Corra is a transgender was done by their father Roy P Disney who is also the grandson of the company’s co-founder Roy O Dinsey and is also the great-nephew of Walt Disney. Along with making the announcement, Roy P Disney and his wife Sheri said that they will donate up to $500,000 o the Human Rights Campaign. He said, “Equality matters deeply to us, especially because our child, Charlee, is transgender and a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community.” Roy’s sister Abigail Disney lauded his decision and tweeted, “Today I am busting with pride at what my brother and his wife have done. So proud so proud so proud!!!”

Charlee Corra first came out as gay which was not easy for them too. They have revealed that they did not have many openly gay role models and they certainly did not have any trans or nonbinary role models. They also said that they did not see themselves reflected in anyone and this made them feel that there was something wrong with them. Disney’s Co CEO Bob Chapek has not openly condemned the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill. Charlee Corra has also said that they feel they did not do enough to help. Thye haven’t called in senators or taken action when they could be doing so much more.
Opposing the Florida law that forbids the teachers from discussing topics like sexual identity in classrooms from kindergarten to third grade. Such rudimentary laws are even been discussed by the lawmakers are in itself so ridiculous!
