Dileep Assault Case: Bhavana Menon Opens Up About Chilling Experience, Says ‘I’m A Survivor, Not A Victim”

Women’s Day is all about celebrating and appreciating all the women in our lives. As we all know, women are the epitome of strength, intelligence, love, selflessness, passion, determination but most importantly women are the symbol of courage and justice. And recently Bhavana Menon proved it when she talked about the Dileep sexual assault case and shared her chilling experience publicly for the first time.

In January, South Indian actress Bhavana Menon opened up about her struggles regarding the kidnapping and sexual assault she was a victim of by actor Dileep in 2017. Now, she decided to break her silence and openly talk about the assault. Sharing the chilling experience, Bhavana said that the assault happened in the year 2017 and how it completely changed her life. The Aarya actress said that she used to think if only she wasn’t alone after her father’s death or if she would have skipped the shoot that day, the incident wouldn’t have happened in the first place. For her, it was a long nightmare and she was constantly blaming herself. Bhavana added that she wanted to turn back time and change everything so she can live a normal life again. This is such a sad and heart-wrenching thing to hear.

Talking about the trial, she mentioned that she had to go to court for 15 days in the year 2020 and described it as a traumatic experience. But after the trial, she felt like a survivor and not a victim. She realised that she was not only standing up for herself but also for other women as well. Talking further about her experience, she mentioned that people said she staged the assault and blamed her parents as well and it shredded her dignity into pieces. And after she joined social media, the victim-blaming got worse as she started receiving messages like, “why don’t you die, why don’t you kill yourself, how will you die.” This is unbelievable, people still judging and shaming the victim is so brutal and completely illogical.
