Amber Heard To Appeal Jury’s Verdict In Favour Of Ex-Husband Johnny Depp
The verdict of the highly anticipated Johnny Depp and Amber Heard defamation case was announced. The jury ruled that both have defamed each other but ordered $15 million as compensatory charges to be paid to Depp while ordering $2 million to be paid to Heard. Just when we were thinking this case has finally come to an end, it has been reported that Amber Heard is now planning to appeal the jury’s verdict.
Amber Heard To Appeal Verdict
As per a report by Entertainment Weekly, Heard is planning to appeal the jury’s verdict who has favoured Johnny Depp in this six-week-long trial. The jury’s verdict says that Heard has ‘intentionally and maliciously defamed Johnny Depp’ when she wrote the op-ed about being a domestic violence survivor in 2018 for The Washington Post. In her piece, she did not name call Depp but it implied who she was referring to as her abuser.
Taking to her social media to express her discontentment about the verdict, Amber Heard wrote that the disappointment she feels is ‘beyond words’. She further wrote, “I’m heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence, and sway of my ex-husband.” Heard also went on to write that this verdict is a ‘setback’ for other women.

Whereas Johnny Depp also took to his social media to express gratitude for the jury’s favour. He said that serious and criminal allegations were levied against him. He also went on to write that after six years, the jury has given him ‘his life back’. Depp has also written that the goal behind pursuing this case was to bring truth to the light ‘regardless of the outcome’ of the case.
