Bharti Singh Breaks Down While Explaining Why She Doesn’t Want To Have Children Amidst COVID. It Makes Sense

The pandemic has changed the course of almost everyone’s life. Where did we think we’d be in 2020 and where we are in 2021… if we started comparing notes, it would wreck our mental health. Me, I thought I’d probably be married by this time, but here I am, watching my best reproductive years wilt away because COVID won’t even let me find a husband (not that you need one per se to have a baby). However, what the pandemic has also done is made many of us reevaluate our life goals. And I for one am not quite sure if I’d even want to bring a child into this deteriorating world, TBH. Recently, comedian Bharti Singh, too talked about a change in her and husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa’s plans to have children, due to the pandemic.

Bharti was on stage at Dance Deewane, the reality talent show that she hosts with her husband when this happened. A contestant used her dance performance to depict the true story of a mother losing her 14-month old baby. Everyone, from the contestant herself to judges Sonu Sood and Nora Fatehi, got emotional and had tears in their eyes. Because losing loved ones is a grave reality that we all are living in today.

Bharti Singh was one them too, as she broke down and revealed that she and husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa, who got married in 2017, were also planning to have a baby. However, looking at the way things are with the virus, she doesn’t feel like bringing a child into the world. Because she doesn’t want to cry like the mother in the contestant’s performance did.

In an earlier interview, Bharti Singh had revealed her plans to start a family in 2020, which went out the window because of the pandemic.

“However, due to the coronavirus outbreak, I don’t wish to take any chance. I can’t plan a baby in such tension. I want my baby to come in a healthy environment. Right now, it is risky to even visit a hospital and once you get pregnant, you have to visit a doctor for regular check-ups. Might as well wait for another year than putting a small baby’s life at risk,” she said.

I’ve seen many women, some of them friends, relatives and acquaintances, who have given birth during the pandemic. And I cannot imagine the stress going to the doctors for regular checkups and being in a hospital must’ve put them through. Even now, there are so many women who are pregnant and contracting the virus. And the fact that they still don’t know how the vaccine affects pregnant women or lactating mothers is another reason why many women aren’t considering having children right now.
