Same-sex marriage has been the latest reason why a lot of Indians online are stressed. The case is currently ongoing as last month the Supreme Court referred to the pleas that sought validation on same-sex marriages. The case will be heard in the Apex Court on April 18, 2023. Until then, #SameSexMarriage has been trending on Twitter, wherein people have been sharing their views on this topic. Of course, there are polarising views on this but the ones who are opposing same-sex marriage have put forth the weirdest arguments against it. From saying it will hamper societal values to saying it will encourage live-in relationships, Twitter is filled with the most absurd opinions on same-sex marriage.
One of the Twitter users who opposed same-sex marriage wrote that people who support the LGBTQIA+ community are born out of adultery. I don’t see how this is an insult. A person born out of adultery and being respectful will always be preferred over a half-read disrespectful dimwit.

Another one pointed out how legalising same-sex marriage will go against the concept of the family ecosystem. And also how this is not a part of India’a culture. This person has clearly not read the Indian scriptures that normalise having same-sex partners.

Another weirdo went on to write that rapists, drug addicts and people from the LGBTQIA+ community are ‘not from God.’ Firstly, God never discriminated between genders and races. it was humans who did this themselves. So, humans are clearly the root of the problem.

Lastly, the one that I found to be the most hilarious is a Twitter user saying same-sex marriage will ruin society like how live-in relationships have. So, again, rapists and paedophiles are not ruining society but consensual relationships are? Cool cool.

It is really hilarious but also sad to see people have such problematic and extreme opinions about this. And if same-sex-marriages are legalised, it will be these people who will cause the most ruckus and “ruin society.”
