Talking about an exclusive collaboration with beauty star Pat McGrath, actress Nicola Coughlan AKA Penelope Featherington, revealed her relationship with make-up in a recent interview with Glamour UK.

Pat McGrath Labs’ new ambassador, Nicola talked about the joy of dressing up and the confidence to do so, as fuelled by Bridgerton and how make-up plays a key role in portraying the character of Penelope, in the upcoming season. Shedding light on her character’s journey from a young girl to a woman, she exclaimed the introduction of Pat McGrath’s eye shadow range and loads of kohl eyeliner while curating the look of Penelope for the latest instalment.
She also unveiled deets about her on and off relationship with make-up, which played an imperative role during her early years of growing up and a total opposite during her time in drama school. From being an absolute necessity or a shield to now being a tool to paint creatively, she pointed out the expressive nature of makeup and said, the one thing she loved about Bridgerton and the Regency era was that, “Women were able to use beauty to express themselves creatively and build a sense of identity. It could be so elaborate or soft and feminine, and that’s really inspiring.” Actually, just like Euphoria and all its characters, who use their stunning eye shadow palettes as a tool to speak their emotional state, beauty has found a deeper and fruitful meaning today. The new rules of beauty, exclaim that there surely aren’t any and it’s about time we leave the stereotypes attached to the glitter brushes and just have fun with ’em all.
