Bihar Bride Leads Baraat While Riding On A Horse At Her Wedding, Breaking Patriarchal Traditions!!

Often, when a woman tries to question the absurd and meaningless rules laid by patriarchy, society tries to silence her. And you cannot even imagine the rage and pressure on a woman when she takes a step to eradicate such patriarchal beliefs. We are glad that it does not stop them from taking such crucial steps. The recent case of such an empowered woman came from Bihar, where a bride, sitting on a mare, led her baraat to the wedding venue. Wow, it literally made my day!

Take a look at this video of the bride shared by a news portal.

Anushka Guha, a flight attendant from Gaya in Bihar, always used to question the patriarchal beliefs of our society. Earlier this week, she got married to a Kolkata-based businessman Jeet Mukharjee. When it was her chance to break these stereotypes, she did it without missing a minute at her own wedding. Sitting on a mare in her white bridal ensemble, Anushka marched along with her family and friends with a proper band, baajaa and baarat to the wedding venue to get married. I love her attitude!

Anushka’s mother said that she would often ask her about the practice of a groom going to the bride’s house on horseback on the wedding day. Her parents told her that these were traditions that everyone has been following for generations. Unsatisfied with the answers, she made up her mind to break this tradition and do the opposite at her wedding. A video went viral that is showing the bride dancing on the horseback and having a blast. “I am a girl, why should I not go? I thank my husband that he didn’t mind this,” Anushka Guha said in an interview.

This is so wholesome, but it’s not the first time when a bride sat on a mare. In a similar case from Rajasthan’s Sikar district, Kritika Saini left people shocked by riding a horse to mark the pre-wedding ritual called ‘Bandori’. She wanted to convey the message of equality between both genders. Her parents also supported her because they too believe that people should not discriminate between daughters and sons and wanted to spread the message that everyone deserves equal opportunities and we couldn’t agree more!
