10 Foods Every Bride Should Steer Clear Of On The Wedding Day

Wedding madness can really get to everyone but that’s okay. It’s cool till the bride starts to lose her cool. It can be a bit of a roller coaster ride with some brides gaining kilos from all the emotional eating to the others who lose a lot to fit into that lehenga. If you’re all set to sit in the mandap for your wedding, congratulations to you! There are several things that you need to take care of that can determine the way your day goes even though you’ve prepped for months on end. Eating the right foods on the day of your wedding can really determine the way you look in your photos to how you feel through out the day. Here are 10 foods that you definitely need to avoid on your D-day!

1. Ditch the sugar

Having sugar can make your skin look dull and wrinkled, so minimise the intake to maintain glowing, supple skin throughout the day. Psst… save your sugar cravings for the cake cutting ceremony after the wedding!

2. Coffee

Waking up to a cuppa freshly brewed coffee is what keeps most of us going throughout the day. If you combine that dose of caffeine with the wedding jitters and anxiety, it can be a terrible combination. On the day of the wedding, back off from the coffee and stick to tea instead!

3. Alcohol

Alcohol can severely dehydrate your skin and make it look dry and life less. It can even cause gas and make you feel bloated.  You can enjoy champagne and yummy cocktails, but hold out until the reception, girl.

4. Spices

Keep the acid reflux and heartburn at bay by skipping the spicy food on the day of your wedding. Besides, it can give you bad breath and that’s not what you need when you’re asking your husband if he understood the mantras the pundit is chanting.

5. Dairy products

Anything consisting of lactose like milk, cheese, yogurt, or anything with cream can lead to bloating or gas. It will make you feel fuller but not in a good way.

6. Beans

Beans contain a type of fibre that is not easy digestible by the body so in the process of breaking it down, gas is produced in the stomach which can cause bloating. Stick to lean proteins instead.

7. Raw Vegetables

Cruciferous vegetables like kale, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, and broccoli are great for health but are loaded with fibres that can cause gassiness. Switch to water-based vegetables like celery, cucumber, and asparagus just before your wedding.

8. Pass on the salt

Salt is known to retain water, so avoid consuming salt in order to keep that unnecessary bloating at bay on your wedding day.

9. Fried Food

It might be tempting to get McDonalds for breakfast that morning, but you want to avoid it as much as you can. It can cause fatigue and you want to look fresh and amazing all those Insta-stories you BFF’s want to take.

10. Chewing Gum

Opt for mint candy instead of chewing gum for fresh breath. Every time you chew, you’re swallowing air and puffing up your belly. Now who wants that in the first place?
