About Trolls Band Together
Trolls Band Together is the third instalment in the Trolls film franchise and the direct sequel to the 2020 film Trolls World Tour. Directed by Walt Dohrn and Tim Hietz and written by Elizabeth Tippet, the film has Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake, Zooey Deschanel, Camila Cabello, Amy Schumer, RuPaul and more in voice roles of the animated film.
Plot Of Trolls Band Together
The animated film follows Branch, the youngest member of boyband BroZone that was disbanded. Branch teams up with girlfriend Poppy and his older brothers and BroZone members John Dory, Spruce and Clay to rescue their brother Floyd who is being held captive by brother-sister musical duo Velvet and Veneer who are using their troll brother to extract his talent and sing better.
It is during this journey that the brothers deal with their internal conflict while Poppy ends up meeting her long-lost sister Viva who has demons of her own battle. Will they be able to save Floyd before it's too late?
Voice Performances
Anna Kendrick's Poppy, Justin Timberlake's Branch, Camila Cabello's Viva, Eric André's John Dory, Kid Cudi's Clay, Daveed Diggs' Spruce, Troye Sivan's Floyd, Amy Schumer's Velvet and Andrew Rannells' Veneer all nail their voice performances. At no point do they falter in their voice roles.
What Works For The Film?
The dialogues take you on a trip down memory lane with kickass punchline that will have you cracking up every now and then. The colours popping up on the big screen will make you smile wide and the emotional story will make your heart ache. The overall charm of the animated film and the way the plot has been weaved with a dash of humour and emotions will keep you hooked to your seat for a satisfactory ending.
What Doesn't Work For The Film?
Honestly, the predictable, done-and-dusted plot just doesn't cut it. While it's a great movie for kids, the plot is something that has been done far too many times. The music is rather catchy but not as much as the previous Trolls film. Nothing about this sequel really stands out apart from the overall cuteness.
Verdict: The Perfect Film To Sweeten Up Your Weekend
In simple words, this film is a great watch for kids. It maintains the overall charm of the Trolls film franchise but it's not as appealing to adults as one would expect it to be. But that doesn't mean that it's not the perfect weekend watch to unplug and relax with your boo!
