“Itna Nahi Girna Chahiye”: Uorfi Javed Slams Those Sharing Fake Smiling Pics Of Wrestlers Vinesh, Sangeeta Phogat

The wrestlers’ protests took a violent turn over the weekend as the police detained Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia, and cleared the protest site at Jantar Mantar, Delhi. The pictures and videos of the scuffle between the protesting wrestlers that have surfaced on social media are heartbreaking. Amid this, a fake photo of Vinesh Phogat and Sangeeta Phogat, the Asian Wrestling Championships 2016 medalist and wife of Bajrang Punia, is also doing rounds where they are seen smiling in a selfie while seated in a police van. Uorfi Javed, who has been supporting the protestors, took to social media to slam the circulation of such fake pictures.

Taking to her Twitter account, Uorfi Javed shared a collage of the two pictures. In one of them, Vinesh Phogat and Sangeeta Phogat have solemn expressions on their faces while in the other, they can be seen smiling widely. The award-winning wrestlers are seated in a police van and you can see a couple of police personnel in the van behind them as well.

Sharing this post, Uorfi Javed asked why people edit such pictures and prove their lies. She also slammed those circulating these fake messages by saying that one should not stoop so low to prove the other person wrong. Several people on the internet have agreed with Uorfi Javed on her statement and have also lauded her for shedding light on the truth.

This tussle between the protesting wrestlers and the police broke out when the wrestlers began to move toward the newly inaugurated Parliament building when they did not have permission to do so. They were detained by the police and FIRs have been filed against them for violating the law.
