Today, the Telugu film industry and the entire Indian Film industry in general lost a very talented actress, Jamuna, to old age and health problems. The veteran actress left a rich legacy behind with her work. The unfortunate news of her death made headlines on January 27, Friday. The veteran Telugu actress, Jamuna died because of illness and peacefully took her last breath in her home. She was around 86 years old. The actress has taken the Telugu industry to newer heights with her performances and work.

Who Was Jamuna?
Born in Karnataka’s Hampi, Jamuna discovered her interest in acting and theatre at a very young age. She started doing theatres at an early age and went ahead to make a film debut when she was just 16 years old. Her first film was titled Puttilu. Jamuna’s interest in art and dance was to a lot extent influenced by her mother too, who taught her how to play the musical instrument, the harmonium.

Works And Achievements.
Jamuna worked in many Telugu films, however, she also contributed to the Tamil and Kannada film industries. She appeared in films like Mooga Manasulu, Bhookailas and more. In fact, she also did a Hindi film Milan, for which she won a Filmfare award in the category of Best Supporting Actress role. It’s always said you just need that one breakthrough film in your career to be acknowledged, and for Jamuna, Missamma by LV Prasad was that film. Jamuna’s diverse roles in the character of Satyabhama were highly praised by everyone.

The veteran actress also had a brief political career. She became a member of the Indian National Congress. Jamuna also served as the President of the Andhra Pradesh Mahila Congress.
