This week has brought with itself, a major shift in the insurance industry as Sushmita Shukla, a veteran from within the industry itself, has been appointed the first Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The Indian-American woman is now, one of the most prominent women in the industry and holds the position of a second-ranking officer in this prestigious and global organisation.
But, this sudden appointment has left people around the globe wondering who Sushmita Shukla actually is and what exactly is her background. Read on to find out more about her.
Who Is Sushmita Shukla?
Sushmita Shukla has been in the insurance industry for a while now. The experienced 54-year-old has previously worked with Liberty Mutual, Chubb, Healthfirst, Merrill Lynch, and GiantBear Inc. She has been vastly commended for her talent and management skills time and again. She will be taking over the high positions in a complete sense from March 2023 onwards.
She is also well-educated and has a dense educational background. She got her MBA degree from New York University. She also has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Mumbai.
Sushmita Shukla has an in-depth knowledge of insurance, technology and innovative methods. She has been religiously working with the organisation towards creating a diverse, inclusive and appreciative culture, which is of course, truly commendable. Together with the Bank’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Sushmita Shukla is all set to create magic.
Having a lot of experience with leadership roles in the past, she will be responsible for establishing, communicating, executing and re-creating a more creative strategic direction for the organisation. On top of this, she will also serve as an alternate voting member for the Federal Open Market Committee.
