There is a lot of controversy and backlash that some comedians are currently receiving on social media. One of them is Madhur Virli. An old clip from his comedy show is now going viral on social media. In this particular clip, the comedian makes an uncomfortable and disgusting joke about r*pe. This got him a lot of backlash and harsh criticism. He later posted an apology, too. Here’s what you need to know about him.
Who Is Madhur Virli?
After Pranit More, now comedian Madhur Virli has also caught everyone’s attention on social media, but for all the wrong reasons. A short clip from his 2024 show ‘Love And Latex’ has not resurfaced on the internet, where he is seen making a rather questionable and disgusting joke about r*pe. Many people, and even celebrities, on social media bashed the comedian for his insensitivity towards such a triggering and inhumane crime against women.
Madhur Virli later posted an apology on his YouTube page and acknowledged that he had made a huge mistake by making such a remark. Madhur also clarified that he himself had taken down the video long back after realising that it was wrong and problematic. The comedian also added that he removed his Instagram account around six months ago.
But what’s the story behind Madhur Virli’s popularity?
Madhur Virli is an IIT-Delhi graduate, but after an overnight success in the field of dark comedy, he switched his career to take it up as a full-time job. Madhur Virli got recognition in 2018 for his stand-up comedy at the Inter- IIT Cultural Meet, as per the Times of India report. He now has 755K subscribers on YouTube and does have an Instagram account, but there are many fan accounts in his name. His latest stand-up comedy video was a MasterPeace, which he posted around two months ago.

There is a boundary that one should not cross in the name of making jokes. It is really difficult to understand how someone in their right mind would even think of a joke about r*pe. It’s not even remotely a funny thing to pen a joke around.
