I am sure you must have googled something today, but did you notice the personality which google doodle is celebrating? It’s Kitty O’Neil, a woman with talents that is impossible to count on the fingers but unfortunately, she had to suffer a lot due to various illnesses. On March 24, 1946, the great American stuntwoman was born to a US Air Force officer. Kitty O Neil is still remembered as the fastest woman in the world, a title that she was honoured with during her career as a racer. But her life came with its own set of challenges and one that she overcame every time until it was no longer in her control.

Early Life
Kitty O Neil hails from Corpus Christie, Texas and was born in the year 1946. Her childhood was a difficult one, as she lost her father to a plane crash, and also lost the ability to hear when she was just five months old. But her mother never let this become Kitty O Neil’s weakness and instead taught her lip-reading and speech after she turned two years old. During her teenage years, Kitty O Neil participated in many swimming competitions and also polished her interests in scuba diving, skydiving and hand gliding and more.

Career and Achievements
Kitty O Niel grew up to build her career in racing and stunts. She participated in many racing competitions on water and land but then gave up on it once she discovered her love for stunts. She worked as a stuntwoman in many films like The Blues Brother, Smokey And The Bandit II, and Airport’77 among others. Kitty O Neil made a women’s high fall record while shooting as a stuntwoman in one of the Wonder Women episodes.

Illnesses
Kitty O Neil lost her hearing abilities when she was just 5 months old, and also suffered from meningitis. She was treated for cancer twice when she was in her 20s. The stuntwoman breathed her last at the age of 72 after suffering from pneumonia. Kitty O Niel died in 2018, and in 2023, this day marks her 77th birthday.
