From 2020 to 2022, he worked as a volunteer with the Aam Aadmi Party’s social media team. He helped to create meme-based campaigns during the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections.
In 2023, Abhijit Dipke returned to Aurangabad in Maharashtra. After finishing his studies, he launched the Cockroach Janta Party. It began as a joke but later became a huge online movement. As per reports, more than 80,000 people have already signed up.
But Why This Name?
The name “Cockroach Janta Party” comes from a controversial statement by the Chief Justice of India, Surya Kant. He reportedly called unemployed youth “cockroaches” who are struggling to find space in jobs and society.
To become a member, a person must be unemployed, “lazy”, and able to “rant professionally”. These conditions are not real rules. They are made as satire to show the problems of unemployed youth and how they express anger online.
Demands
Even though it is humour, the party has serious demands in its manifesto. It wants full independence of the judiciary. It says no post-retirement political posts or Rajya Sabha seats for judges. It also demands a 50% reservation for women in Parliament and the Cabinet and very strict anti-defection laws.
