Twitter Reacts To Mirabai Chanu’s Period’s Story
During the interview, she revealed that she recovered from the injury; however, it was her third day of the menstrual cycle, which impacted her a bit. Having said that, she also added that it wasn’t an excuse, as they train to cope with it, as it is a natural thing that happens to any woman. Her revelation wasn’t supported by a lot of social media users who expressed their disappointment on X (former Twitter.) One user wrote, “I’m sorry but She needs to stop giving these excuses lord what’s wrong with these athletes.” Well, he wouldn’t know that, would he? Another user joined the conversation and defended Mirabai, “She won the silver medal last time and finished 4th this time. Whereas Kohli skipped 5 test matches & 2 months of cricket recently for his child’s birth as if he was the one who was pregnant, not Anushka. Have some shame.”

Another Twitter user reacted to her statement negatively and said, “Even a Romanian weightlifter got her elbow twist in the initial of her last two clean and jerk lifts, still she completed it so well. I can guarantee you that many female athletes would have been facing periods during these competitions but none will make such an excuse at the biggest stage. If you are here to make excuses then make way for the other ones who don’t. Mirabai Chanu you didn’t give your best. We saw others who gave their level best like Romanian and Chinese weightlifters and our own Vinesh Phogat.” Tell me you don’t know anything about menstruation without telling me you don’t know about menstruation! Well, others came in support of Mirabai and added, “Still she performed so well and missed the medal by a whisker. Our champion.” She is indeed a champion!
