A dating app relationship in Bhopal led to a horrific tragedy just a few months into the marriage. Twisha Sharma, 31, from Noida, was found dead at her husband’s home in Bhopal. The love story that began in 2024 ended with accusations of dowry harassment, physical assault, and murder by her family. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed after Twisha was seen hanging at her in-laws’ Katara Hills home on MAY 12. She had married a lawyer named Samarth Singh, who is also the son of a former sessions judge.

An FIR against Twisha Sharma’s husband and mother-in-law under section 80(2) of the BNS has been made, which pertains to dowry deaths. As per the investigation, she met Samarth Singh on a dating app in 2024, and they decided to tie the knot in December 2025. She moved to Bhopal from Noida after their wedding and started living with her husband and in-laws at their family residence in Bagh Mugalia Extension, Katara Hills region. However, her relatives stated that she was unhappy living in Bhopal and wanted to come back to Noida.
Her family reported that they were in touch with her regularly and even spoke to her at 10 pm, just shortly before the incident. Her father claimed that Twisha had spoken to him for about 30 minutes before her death, and complained about harassment by Samarth and his mother. The family also revealed that she had told them about being physically assaulted by her husband. The police initially suspected this as a su*cide, but Twisha’s family alleged there were injury marks on her body and accused her husband and his mother of murdering her.

Sharma’s family also raised concerns over the post-mortem examination at AIIMS Bhopal, alleging that the investigating officer did not send important evidence for forensic examination, despite references in the medical report. Twisha’s family also staged a protest outside MP Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s home on Monday, as per PTI. They demanded a second post-mortem exam at AIIMS Delhi. Her father and brother also said that the CM’s official told them they would take fair action. The family also asked for the legal proceedings to shift outside of MP.
