“Are Female Athletes Not Sanskari Enough?”: Mahua Moitra Slams BJP For Silence On WFI Sexual Harassment Case

The wrestler’s protest against the Wrestling Federation Of India (WFI) Chief Brij Bhushan Saran Singh is currently a serious matter of concern for the county. Many people from the sports fraternity have raised their voices against the injustice and have demanded an unbiased approach to the matter. Recently, one of the biggest critics of the ruling party, Lok Sabha member Mahua Moitra slammed the BJP for protecting an alleged sexual harassment culprit at the cost of female wrestlers’ dignity. She further called out the women supporters of BJP too for not speaking up in favour of the athletes.

On April 29, Mahua Moitra, a TMC candidate who is a member of the parliament gave out her statements on the WFI sexual harassment case. Taking to her official social media handle, the TMC leader slammed BJP for slyly protecting WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and not taking any actions against him. She further called out the party for shaming the female wrestlers of India in order to protect the WFI chief.

Furthermore, Mahua Moitra also lambasted at the hypocrisy of the “BJP Naari Brigade”. She questioned their absence from the issue and criticised them for not speaking up. Mahua Moitra also taunted at the selective criticism by the “Naari Brigade” and asked if the wrestlers were “Not Sankskari Enough” to be supported!

On the same day, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh also addressed a press conference about the case. He denied resignation from his position as it would only strengthen the country’s belief in the claims made by wrestlers. The WFI chief also promised his support in the investigation and showed faith in the judiciary.
