Amidst Backlash, Swara Bhasker Supports IFFI Jury Nadav Lapid Over His Criticism Of ‘The Kashmir Files’
The IFFI this year has been trending like never before. And the main reason behind it is the controversial statement that was said by one of the jury members, Nadav Lapid. For those unversed, the Israeli filmmaker in a closing ceremony speech commented on The Kashmir Files and called it a propaganda and vulgar movie. Following this, there was a whole outrage where Anupam Kher, Vivek Agnihotri, Ranvir Shorey, and more slammed the filmmaker. However, while most are against the statement, there is one celebrity that came out in support of Nadav Lapid and that celeb is none other than Swara Bhasker.

Swara Bhasker reacted to the news article whose headline read, “‘Kashmir Files a ‘vulgar propaganda movie’, unfit for event like IFFI: Jury Chairman Nadav Lapid”. She shared the article on her Twitter and wrote, “Apparently it’s pretty clear to the world…”
The news article that Swara Bhasket reacted to was talking about the speech that Nadav Lapid gave at IFFI where he spoke about Vivek Agnihotri’s movie, The Kashmir Files. He said, “All of us were disturbed and shocked by the 15th film, The Kashmir Files. That felt like a propaganda, vulgar movie, inappropriate for an artistic competitive section of such a prestigious film festival.”

One of them was Israel’s Consul General Kobbi Shoshani who called the remark a “big mistake” and even added that the remark in no way reflects the country’s stance on the movie.
