Shenaz Treasury On Sri Lanka’s Cleanliness

In a viral video, Shenaz Treasury shared her visit to the Ella railway station in Sri Lanka, which is a famous spot among international tourists for its scenic routes and backpacking culture. The clip showed many tourists walking around the station, taking pictures and waiting for the train in a very clean and organised environment. As she walked around, the content creator talked about the clean premises before calling India the “dirtiest” country.

This remark spread like wildfire on social media platforms like X (Previously Twitter), where many debated whether India’s tidy issues were affecting the tourism and its global image. Many agreed with Shenazz, stating that littering and bad civic sense remain one of the major problems across many Indian tourist destinations. They pointed out how many historical and beautiful Indian places often have garbage, overcrowding, and poor sanitation problems around them.

However, this statement of the creator also received major backlash, with many arguing that it was not just to “generalise” the country. They pointed out that there were many Indian cities and tourist places like Mysuru and Gangtok, where tourists often praise the cleanliness. Others also stated that comparing a tourist-focused and small destination like the Ella station with a large country was not fair.
